Although labelled “counterfeit” on front and back, this note is genuine. It was created by William Hamlin of Providence, the first engraver in Rhode Island. Hamlin’s name can be found beneath the drawing of the cattle on the upper left.

Signatures of Mowry Smith, cashier, and John Harris, president.
