“National Banknote Company. Full red-orange tint lathe across bottom two-thirds with micro-pattern and titles. Top center, Adriatic on high seas as used on ‘’Dix’’ notes. Upper corners, intricate dies. Superb color scheme and vignette contrast. There is a short India paper tear at the top left edge. Faint wisps of age foxing, but overall very vibrant and fresh.”


The SS Adriatic, a side-wheel steamship. 5,888 tons, 1,350 hp, built by George Steers, engine built by Novelty Works, New York.
