1800s Counterfeit. Durand 1869, Haxby RI-380 C48

“No imprint. Ornate texts with small ship at the left. A beautiful, very clean 1800’s note, from well executed counterfeit plates. This is the first type from the series and very rare and is the Haxby Plate Note. It is printed on a watermarked paper of high quality and this would have been very deceptive. Marked as counterfeit plate with two faint pen cancels. This was once in the Roger Durand Collection of Rhode Island notes, listed in his groundbreaking book as No. 1869 and is likely the finest known.”
