Hamilton Bank $10

1840s Proof. Durand 2134, Haxby RI-440 G26, Bowers W-RI-680-010-G060

“This design was one of the very last issued by the bank. The design features two impressive vignettes, one of Liberty standing with a federal shield and eagle and the other of a mechanic, seated with his tools, gazing at a distant town and railroad bridge. A small oval vignette of an arm and hammer and a portrait of Washington complete the design. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with the usual small POCs in the signature lines. There was a lone example of this note in Lot 1830 of the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale.”
